Jessi's thread reminded me of a website I had seen about a year ago. The person has come up with the idea that we love our pets so much we might as well marry them.

You have three options: Simple Wedding, Big Wedding, or Biggest Wedding. The Biggest Wedding includes a certificate, t-shirt, and embroidered wall plaque.

    http://www.marryyourpet.com/

Is this a clever entrepreneur making some money or a dumb idea? I wonder how many weddings she has sold so far.

Personally I think it's a dumb idea. A pet is a pet. A dog can be a wonderful and loyal companion but it cannot be a spouse. That would be stretching the idea a bit too far.

I think it was just a money making idea.
Some will create even those not useful things as long as it can produce money for them.

The first time I saw the website I thought it was humor. I didn't think it was serious.

I agree that someone found a way to make money. It would be interesting to see how many packages she has sold. Who would want to "marry" their dog?

I agree with Victor that it is a dumb idea. I think some people just like to take their love for their dogs to another level. However, not all dog owners are like those people. It is ridiculous when someone goes overboard simply to make money out of it.

It’s not funny if it’s made for humor. I definitely would not want to marry my dog. Definitely, dogs have more sense than other people.

That's just....silly, lol. I completely understand how people can get attached to their pets and often view them as their children. I don't really understand viewing one as a spouse/partner/lover, though....

    That's....kind of creepy, honestly.

....I can imagine them making bank with the furry fandom, though.

.......................Oh God I think I just threw up inside my mouth a little.

The next thing I expect to see is the x-rated version. You know, like all those porn flicks with randy brides.

Well Victor, that's what the furry fandom is for.

Let us never speak of this again.

We all have active imaginations that could lead it there, but I think I'm pretty content not putting it into words in public, haha.

Actually, when I first read Victor's post what first came to mind are two mating dogs but that can’t be porn. Okay. Let’s not talk about it.

    *closes thread again
