I’ve wanted a dog for many, many years! I know the responsibility so I’ve never committed. I thought I might go back to Hawaii. Who would put there doggie through quarantine unnecessarily!?!

Anyway, I will be watching videos and learning how to train one for a few days or weeks before I decide on a breed...

I travel, and I think it it is best for the dog, if they are highly trainable in any circumstance anyway. I can spend a lot of time with my dog but it’d be very helpful if I could leave it with food, water, and shade for 45 minutes here and there, +/- to get things done.

I don’t want to have to tie it on a leash. I’d also like it to not be a danger to children.

Could a Jack Russell do this?

I was thinking about an Aussie Shepherd, a Chessie maybe...

Short hair could be good for low maintenance, small size for ease, but a dog must be intelligent, good natured, and trainable for this to be possible...

    Welcome to the forum! :)

You mentioned about travelling - will your dog be travelling with you?
