There are different dog stories out there. Aesop's fables are also famous for teaching children the value of life lessons in such a way they can relate to it.

The Dog and his shadow tells the story about a dog carrying a piece of meat, travelling across a bridge with a stream beneath it. He sees his shadow and thinking that it was another dog having another piece of meat, he attacks the shadow fiercely. This led to his dinner falling to the stream, being swept away by the current.

Moral of the story: With envy comes losses.

Really nice to read such stories with moral lessons not only for kids but for everyone. There are also some local fables and tales here regarding the dog's loyalty to his master and lot more good values.

That's a good story for reading to children. I'll have to read that to my children when they get a little older.
