The Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding has been introducing her pet pooch Claude to the first signs of summer. Sarah and her loyal dog have been frequently spotted going for walks on Primrose Hill, North West London as the weather finally gets warmer.

Can anyone tell me the breed of her dog?

I think we are all agreed it's a French Bulldog. Just curious. What's the difference between a French Bulldog and, say, an English Bulldog?

French bulldogs are a lot smaller than English bulldogs and they are more refined. They have less weight, fewer wrinkles, and their bodies are shaped quite differently. English bulldogs are medium-sized dogs who were designed for bull baiting so they have a low center of gravity, widely spaced front legs on barrel chests, and narrow hips with close-set hind legs. They also have small "rose" ears that sit close to their heads. French bulldogs were developed to be companion dogs, especially for the gentry. They are squarely built, small dogs with friendly dispositions and are very people oriented. Both breeds have brachycephalic heads (round with pushed in faces) and both have naturally short corkscrew-type tails.
