Was that real signage? LOL. The dreaded cone of shame is an unforgettable experience for any dog. Imagine not being able to lick on something you could always lick. Oh the horror! Oh the horror!

Haopee, I'm assuming it was. A friend of a friend took the shot and posted in on Pinterest.

The good, the bad, and the ugly...of cones :D

(In this one, she was trying to burrow in her blanket with the hood on. It didn't work. It makes her look like she is wearing a whimple. LOL)

I think a cone is used when some part of the dog, say, the leg is being treated with antibiotics and we don't want the dog to lick that part. Or a cone is used when a dog had just had its ears cropped and we don't want the dog to scratch its ears until they are fully healed.

Ja'cobeC, Victor explained it well. It's to protect an injured dog from itself. In Misha's case, she had a anal glad that abscessed and ruptured. The Veterinarian put the cone on her so that she wouldn't lick the area and make it worse.

Yes, they do look funny. We joke about it and call it the "cone of shame". Usually, a dog looks like they are being penalized for bad behavior when they wear one.

Oh, I didn't know it made the dog look like it's being penalized. Now that you mention it, I can see that it does look somewhat a canine version of the dunce cap.

Haha!! I always feel so bad for animals when they have to wear the cone. :( It's for good reasons, but still. Love the sign. <3
